Early Childhood Education Department Builds Self-Sustaining Garden

The Early Childhood Education Department planted four raised bed vegetable and herb gardens as well as two table gardens (for ADA Compliance and to demonstrate best practices) on Friday, February 15, 2013.  The gardens will be used to teach students the fundamentals needed to start and sustain the gardening process through the College's Health, Safety and Nutrition classes.

As an example, the Exploration Activities class will use the gardens as math and science labs, CPCC's Children with Exceptionalities class will use the gardens to demonstrate ADA compliance and the produce from the gardens will be used to demonstrate healthy eating. Any excess produce will be donated to Friendship Trays, in partnership with Friendship Gardens. Full Story
