Zaman Rashid, 22, is close to finishing an associate's degree with honors at CPCC

In 2007, Rashid came to the United States through the Solace for Children program. In need of lifesaving medical treatment, Rashid spent six weeks in the Lake Norman area recovering from surgery.  In 2009, Rashid became a translator for the Solace program. Today, Rashid plays the role of peace ambassador for Solace in addition to being an honors student at Central Piedmont Community College. Zaman Rashid has big plans for his homeland and for other Afghan children in need of the Solace for Children program.
